Crusade counselor training Sept. 6 in Lumberton
5. September 2008 by BR staff
Robeson and Burnt Swamp associations will collaborate on an area-wide revival, led by evangelist Don Witt Oct. 5-8. Meetings begin at 7 p.m. at Robeson County Community College auditorium in Lumberton.
Whitt, of Jackson, Tenn., has conducted more than 600 crusade and revival meetings nationally as well as India and South Africa. Jamie Parker, minister of music at Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova, Tenn., will lead the worship music.
Jim Coldiron, a crusade consultant for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and the North American Mission Board, will lead counselor training at Godwin Heights Baptist Church in Lumberton at 10 a.m. Sept. 6.
“With this counselor training and if the churches will use the Operation Andrew model, you can expect about the same number of decisions as there are trained counselors and about 60-75 percent of those will be first time decisions,” said Coldiron.
The Squire Parsons Trio will perform a concert on the Monday night of the crusade. This performance is just before Squire Parsons is scheduled to be inducted into the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame in Tennessee.
“We’re looking at it first as evangelistic outreach,” said Mike Cummings, Burnt Swamp director of missions. “Also we anticipate a positive impact on relationships in the associations.”
