Parents plead not guilty in daughter's death

OREGON CITY, Ore. - A couple who tried to heal their dying daughter with prayer walked hand in hand into a crowded courtroom Monday and pleaded not guilty to charges of manslaughter and criminal mistreatment.

Despite destruction by Katrina, church keeps missions focus

LONG BEACH, Miss. - At first glance it looked as though First Baptist Church had been completely destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, but that was before the character of its people and the cooperative spirit of Southern Baptists kicked in.

First quarter CP trails budget, 2007gifts

Cooperative Program (CP) gifts from churches to ministries of the Baptist State Convention through the first quarter of 2008 are 7.88 percent, or $654,864 below the same period in 2007, and 14.9 percent below budget.
